Two modules – one theoretical and one practical

Unit G451                   Worth 60% of AS mark

Anatomy and physiology      -           e.g. joints, muscles, circulation and respiration

Acquiring movement skills   -           e.g. memory, arousal, practice

Modern sporting issues        –           e.g. UKSport, Olympic Games, excellence,Sport for all

Unit G452                   Worth 40% of AS mark

Practical assessment in 2 sports, either as performer, coach or referee. (30%)

Also in an oral response identify strengths and weaknesses of a performer & plan a coaching programme in one chosen sport     (10%)

Sports are chosen from the following activity profiles. Only one sport can be chosen from each profile

*Athletic activities                                          * target games

*Combat activities                                        *Gymnastic activities

*Dance activities                                           *Swimming activities

*Invasion Games                                           *Outdoor & adventurous activities

*Net/wall games                                            *Safe and effective exercise activities

*Striking/fielding games

Unit G453                   Worth 70% of A2 mark

Sports History                        -           e.g. the development of sport from pre-industrial  times to modern day, influence of public schools, from military drill to physical education.

Sport Psychology                  -           eg. motivation, aggression, personality

Exercise physiology              -           e.g. types of training, energy systems, legal & illegal aids to sport

Unit G454                   Worth 30% of A2 mark

Practical assessment in 1 sport, either as performer, coach or referee. (20%).

Must be one of the sports chosen for AS

Also in an oral response identify strengths and weaknesses of a performer & plan a coaching programme in one chosen sport     (10%)
