Mission Statement

St Bede’s is a Catholic school which endeavours to transmit the message of the Gospel and uphold the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. It is a ‘college’ and not just a ’school’. We are a community of believers aiming to provide for the children in our care an excellence of education rooted in and sustained by our shared commitment to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Both pupils and staff are valued for the unique contribution each brings to the rich diversity of the College community. We acknowledge each member to be equal in the eyes of God and worthy of respect. Parents are recognised as the primary educators of their children, and they are actively involved in decisions concerning their children’s progress. In addition, the College welcomes the advice and watchful care of the Governing Body and the Diocesan authorities.

The vision of Cardinal Vaughan, our founder, was that the opportunity to pursue educational excellence should be available for the Catholic children of Manchester. More than one hundred years later we aim to develop highly educated and articulate young men and women, strong in their faith, and possessing a conviction to establish God’s kingdom in this world.

St Bede is our patron and his dedication to the pursuit of learning and his search for knowledge of the Lord are some of the qualities that enrich our work. Our conviction is that all we do should be begun, continued and ended in dependence on God.
