At this time of year, on behalf of everybody at St Bede’s, I wish you a happy and holy Christmas.

I hope that as you browse these pages you will discover the very special nature of St Bede’s.

The College has provided a Catholic education for pupils since 1876. It is a family school, educating boys and girls. Everything we do is based upon Gospel values. The pupils are taught to respect themselves and to respect and care for others; each being uniquely created in God’s image and likeness with unique combination of gifts and talents to be developed for the good of all. The staff at St Bede’s take very seriously their responsibility to be a fundamental part of that development. The College welcomes other committed Christian pupils, who are looking for an education underpinned by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The curriculum is broad and balanced, with many options available as well as opportunities to develop outside the classroom through music, drama, sport and other activities.

We celebrate our pupils’ academic achievements. In addition to the most highly academic of our pupils attaining spectacular results in public examinations and achieving places at the best universities for their choice of subject, including Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard, we pride ourselves on the achievements of all pupils. Nearly all of our pupils go on to further study at university and last year 77% achieved their first choice offer. We add value at every level.

Mass is celebrated each day and the College is very proud of its beautiful chapel, which provides an ideal setting for celebration of the Eucharist as well as a haven for quiet prayer and reflection. There are many other opportunities for our pupils and staff to develop their spiritual self, such as the rosary group and retreats. We are conscious of our patron’s Benedictine upbringing and in keeping with this we aim to establish “a school of the Lord’s service”.
