Gaelic Football Success

Three Gaelic football players from St Bede’s College are celebrating after  winning the under 17 All Britain Gaelic Football final.  They are to represent the UK in the GAA under 18’s intercontinental cup which takes place in Boston during August.
The three players were Sean Ryan aged 14,  Harvey Darby aged 15 and Tom Coen aged 17 . They represented the U17 Lancashire GAA team against Hertfordshire in the final, winning by eighteen points to twelve.
When asked how he felt about winning the title Tom Coen who is also Head Boy at the College said “It was great to have three students from St Bede’s in the team. They did really well considering that they were so young playing against a side that was a lot older and bigger than them, some of the opposing team even had beards!”
Headmaster, Michael Barber said “The College is delighted with the success of  these three students, especially with two of two of them being so young.  A number of our students represent their countries for various  different sports, but I think that this will be the first time that we have three students representing the UK at Gaelic Football.”
