St Bede’s staged its own version of ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here’ when it organised an outdoor activity day for all of its First Year students at the start of the new term. Taking place in a forest in Buxton rather than wild jungle in Australia, the pupils had to undertake a number of individual and group challenges, including climbing, problem solving and team work exercises.
Henry Weiss, Head of Lower School, said: “It was seen by form tutors and me as a very useful way of encouraging new pupils to the school to get to know other – an icebreaker. The activities organised by the World Challenge Organisation were very similar to the ones featured on the ITV show, but I am glad to say that we were not asked to eat any insects!”
