Rugby Team tackle the Waves

Students from St Bede’s College Rugby team spent their first weekend of the new term tackling waves in North Wales.  They took part in a series of water-sports activities at the Plas Menai water-sports centre near Anglesey. The annual event is part of a pre-season team building exercise for the students. It was organised by Technology teacher and 2nd XV Rugby coach, Jerome Lalley and Kevin Rafferty the Head of PE and 1st XV Rugby coach.

The trip involved Keel Boat Sailing, Catamaran Sailing, Windsurfing and Coasteering. Along with the outdoor activities the group visited St Richard Gwyn, Bethesda for the Saturday vigil mass. When asked about the significance of the trip Mr Lalley replied, “It is always a great experience at Plas Menai, and the lads really seem to enjoy it. It sets up a great platform for next season, as it is a great opportunity for the players to gel as a team. The staff at the centre are always friendly and really helpful in any activities. I would just like to thank Plas Menai for the hospitality we were shown and look forward to returning again next year.”

Plas Menai is a government funded organisation run by Wales National Sporting Council. The centre offers a wide range of activities such as Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Sea Kayaking, Catamaran Sailing and Coasteering. To see a full range of activities please visit the web-site: www.plasmenai.co.uk.
