St Bede’s Teacher to Stage Exhibition

Mr Hennigan, Head of Technology and Director of the College’s award winning ‘Young, Gifted & Green’ troupe, has been asked to stage a photographic exhibition at the prestigious Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.  A handful of YGG’s one hundred performers, who have performed sell out shows at the Bridgewater, the Lowry and the Monastery and who are the inaugural winners of the Variety Club of Great Britain ‘Pride of Erin Award’,  will be appearing on the night.

Entitled ‘From Manchester to Mayo’, the exhibition runs from 13 May to 13 June and highlights the area of County Mayo.  It has been specially commissioned to promote the theatre’s world premiere of Edna O’Brien’s new play,  ‘HAUNTED’, starring Brenda Blethyn and Niall Buggy, which is being staged at the same time.

The new Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Alison Firth, will officially launch the private viewing of the exhibition on Friday 15 May in one of her first official engagements.

When asked to describe how he felt about staging such an event Mr Hennigan replied, “It is a great honour to be asked to stage such an exhibition to launch a world premiere. I am a big fan of Edna O’Brien and the Royal Exchange: it is a wonderful venue.  I am sure that the students in ‘Young, Gifted & Green’ will really enjoy performing in such a setting.”

Details of the Exhibition and Private View are listed below.
Although the Private View is by invitation only, the performance by ‘Young, Gifted & Green’ at 6pm in the main Hall on Friday 15 May is open to the general public.
