There were 282 participants in this year’s walk for Africa. The weather was reasonable, sunny but a little windy.
As usual the race (not at all competitive!) started at 10am, with Mr Cahill announcing. The official starter this year was Mr McKeogh in his last year as organiser and Mr Service organised the marshals. Mr Barber led the field for about 20 metres!
The winners in the various events were as follows:
5km run – Christy O’Brien (Prep 6)
5km walk – Mr Keyworth (Parent)
10km walk – Mr Loader (Staff)
First Pet – Mrs Lockett’s dog, Boris
Of the staff, Mr McDaid won the 10km run and Miss O’Neill the 5km run.
The main thing is that a wonderful time was had by all, most people finished before the rain started and most importantly, we will have raised a healthy sum towards our Lenten charity appeal.
Please remember to collect your sponsor money and hand it in to the Main Office as soon as possible, but it must be handed in before the end of term.
Thank you to everyone who supported by taking part, sponsoring participants or helping in the organisation or on the day.
