Students at St Bede’s College in Whalley Range have just taken part in the BP Carbon Challenge Roadshow.

Pictured here with Tim Green, one of the organisers, are fourteen year old students Miranda Cordwell and Tom Bradley. When asked about the event Tom replied: “It was a great opportunity to learn more about the environment, and the information was presented in a really interesting manner.”
Pupils learnt about problems with energy consumption and global warming. They investigated the use of bio fuels and how to become more environmentally conscious.
The aim of the event was to encourage students to reduce their carbon footprint by, amongst other things, turning lights off and not leaving electrical appliances on standby.
The College already has in place a paper recycling scheme and a number of its staff and students cycle to College to reduce their carbon footprint.
