St Bede’s Successful Dancers

Manchester Dance

Sixteen girls from the Upper Third to Upper Sixth competed in the ‘Madness Manchester Dance Showcase for Schools’ held at Stockport Town Hall. Eight schools from the Manchester area competed and all proceeds raised from the event were given to Henshaw’s School for the Blind. St Bede’s raised £320 from ticket sales.

Our three minute dance, which was based on the theme of anti-bullying and discrimination, was choreographed by Rosanna from the Upper Sixth. Rosanna is pursuing a career in Performing Arts and has applied to LIPA.

The routine was based on Street Dance and ballet and the spoken word. The girls only had two weeks to rehearse the routine as the College was invited to join the competition as a late entry.

After two and a half hours of competition and lengthy deliberation by the judges, St Bede’s entry was placed first. Part of the prize is a performance on the stage at the Trafford Centre in March. Congratulations to all concerned.
